This is 28" unfinished copy of an Ecorche (flayed man) originally sculpted by Houdon (famous for sculpting many of America's founding fathers). As part of a education in figure sculpture, the study of anatomy is critical.

Houdon sculpted a John the Baptist in the same pose. That wonderful sculpture can be seen next to Bernini sculptures at the Villa Borghese in Rome.
